What is Diverticular Disorder?
Diverticulitis is a condition in which tiny pouches (diverticula) form in the stomach or intestine. Their presence is detected only during an internal examination or when an X-Ray is taken. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is the condition associated with it.
When, bacteria-infects the pouch’s, diverticulosis develops into diverticulitis. Inflammation occurs due to the overgrowth of the bacteria. Nausea, bloating and gas are the effects of mild infection.
Symptoms of Diverticular Disorder

- No symptoms in maximum cases.
- Tenderness or mild cramping in the left side of the abdomen, but this reduces with passing gas or a bowel movement. Occasionally constipation, gas and nausea may occur.
- In rare cases stool are accompanied by flecks of bright red blood.

Diverticulitis
- Sudden appearance of intermittent lower, left abdominal cramps, or acute pain or tenderness, which maybe severe to mild. The discomfort may turn chronic, may stop or may recur.
- Bowel obstruction or rectal bleeding may occur in some cases.
- Constipation is more common than diarrhea.
- Chills and nausea along with fever may occur during attacks.
- Passing of fecal matter and gas in urine (in rare cases) signifies breaks and leaks in the bowel wall..
Causes of Diverticular Disorder
- Lack of fiber in diet, leads to hard stool formation, that exerts more pressure on the colon and may lead to the formation of diverticula.

- Drink at least 8 glasses of fluids, including soups and juices.
