What is the meaning of Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic inflammation of the skin of the face that causes redness and swelling due to the enlargement of the blood vessels. The redness begins in the center and spreads to the cheeks, chin and forehead.
Gradually pimples and small spidery blood vessels appear around the reddened area. In some cases skin may become oily accompanied by dandruff. Typically women and adults with fair hair and skin are the most affected.
Some of the obvious symptoms of Rosacea
- Blushed appearance on certain areas in the face lasting for few minutes or hours.
- Blood vessels in the affected areas enlarge and become more visible through the skin.
- Gritting, burning sensation in the eyes.
- In some cases pimples appear.
- Few outbreaks leave a permanent sunburned appearance.
How is Rosacea caused?
In-habitation of mites in facial hairs, vascular disorders or genetics is considered as the cause. Alcohol, wind, excessive sun, humidity, spicy foods, stress, smoking can aggravate the conditions.
Natural home remedies for Rosacea
- Use water-based cosmetics. And check medications before consumption.
- Don’t irritate your skin by rubbing your face.
- Apply cold compress to the face for 10 minutes. This will slow down inflammation and constrict blood vessels.
- Avoid extreme temperatures.
- Express your strong emotions and reduce stress.
- Razor blades can irritate the skin so use an electric shaver. Avoid aftershave lotions.
- If you must be in the sun use a sunscreen.
- Maintain a diary containing a list of all things that aggravate rosacea and avoid them.
